3 Things to Know Before Designing a PA System

The three main factors to consider before designing a PA system — the essential foundations of the process.

การออกแบบระบบเสียงประกาศและลำโพง

The Area You Want to Cover

The first factor to consider is the area you want the sound to cover, because the size of the area determines the speaker positions and the number of speakers used. For example, a 4m × 4m room can use just one ceiling speaker, whereas a 12m × 24m room requires six ceiling speakers to cover the entire area.

The Type of Speaker

The speakers used must suit the area and the room's function. An office room can use ceiling speakers, but a large open space should use horn speakers to project sound farther and spread it wider. For a long covered walkway outside a building, a Sound Projector speaker may be used for better directional control of the sound.

The Announcement Format

The announcement format is another factor we need to know: in what format do you want to broadcast? It is important to know whether you want the same announcement everywhere or different announcements per zone, as well as whether you want announcement messages only or also background music to create atmosphere.

These three points are the basic principles for designing any PA system, whether simple or complex. Understanding these principles helps interested parties communicate their requirements accurately to the company designing the system.
